Healthcare as Activism

I believe that providing medical care is an inherently activist practice. We live in a culture that does not prioritize either our physical or our mental health; when we make the shift to focus on our own physical and mental health, we are performing a revolutionary act.

Modern society is unfortunately still battling the reality of systematic oppression; healthcare is no exception. As healthcare providers, I believe Acupuncturists must continuously work to dismantle white supremacy and discrimination of all forms in healthcare environments.

I consider myself an ally. I stand in solidarity with the non-white, LGBTQIA , and all systematically oppressed communities. I commit to continuously learn, reflect, and take action on racial inequality, hatred, and abuses of all kinds. This includes consistently creating space for these urgent conversations within my company, upholding marginalized voices on all of my platforms, and educating folks on the origins and philosophy of Asian medicine.

This work is never complete.

In order to do my part to serve as a model to other businesses, and as my form of reparations, I am committed to offering a limited number of sponsored, sliding scale fee treatments per month for patients in need.
